Final Task: Grouped Up One Last Time

I was just assigned my Final Task project in media studies. This time it is an opening sequence of a movie. I feel like I have formed a great group. My goal is to make a 2-minute video. Our video must adhere to all guidelines given to us. For this assignment, I need to form a group. So decided to form a three-person group with the people around me. I have worked with them the past 2 projects and done very well. These people are Beckett and Julie. I have known Beckett since the sixth grade. I am very good friends with him. Julie I just met this year in this class. We are getting along well. I chose this group for many reasons. To make it brief I will sum it up. We are all great students and have a social connection. These go hand in hand in making a great team. We have already made plans on how to communicate. We made a group chat with all 3 of us on the social media app- Snapchat. When in class we will first need to create an idea. We already have a few ideas in mind. But we have not decided on a firm idea yet. We have plenty of steps to go. My next blog is going to be a pitch blog. Then genre blogs. And so on and so forth.

Hearing it Now

 Putting audio into the movie. That was my group's goal today. I suggested that I and my groupmates meet up in study hall to work on inserting audio into my film. My group already knows what songs are going to be inserted into the film. I must make sure that these songs fit each scene, based on context. The music needs to make sense essentially. I and my group's previous planning really helped here. Since I already researched multiple songs, it is more than likely that they will make sense in my film. So once I got situated, my group huddled around Sofia's computer. Scene by scene she went and added music. While she was doing this, Beckett and I were giving suggestions and listening along. Comparing Le Jetee, the short, and 12 Monkeys, the full-length movie

12 Monkeys has a more complex narrative structure, with multiple storylines and characters since it is a longer film. 12 Monkeys also features more traditional cinematic techniques, such as live-action footage and special effects . 12 Monkeys has a more action-oriented plot, with several exciting set pieces and chase scenes . On the other hand, Le Jetee is more focused on character development and exploration of philosophical themes , but the two films differ in their approach to storytelling and their use of special effects. While Le Jetee relies on still photographs to tell its story, 12 Monkeys uses more traditional film techniques and has a larger budget for special effects. After comparing these two, we saw a lot of things that could help us in the short film process. We saw that it is possible to conden s e a larger storyline into a shorter one, and still deliver the same message throughout.
